Already 5 months into 2016??? | April Wrap-Up!

FullSizeRender (15)Random Fact of the Day: The odds of being killed by falling out of bed are one in two million.

Hello & Happy May 1st!! The month of April has come to an end, so I decided to post my Wrap-Up today because I had time after attending YALLWest! Speaking of YALLWest, my recap post about my experience should be up at the end of this week! (*cries because it’s over and now I have to wait another YEAR to revisit*) But anyways, here’s my reading & blogging recap of the month:

THE BOOKS:

This month I was striving to complete a ton of novels in time for YALLWest, and I have to say I think I did pretty good. Of course, I did not get to all the novels that I wanted to, but I am FINALLY out of my slump so that is wonderful!! Here are the novels I read this month & their ratings:

POPULAR: VINTAGE WISDOM FOR A MODERN GEEK BY MAYA VAN WAGENEN

MY RATING: 4 out of 5 stars

21092956

ELEANOR & PARK BY RAINBOW ROWELL

MY RATING: 5 out of 5 stars

15745753

MY TRUE LOVE GAVE TO ME: TWELVE HOLIDAY STORIES EDITED BY STEPHANIE PERKINS

MY RATING: 4 out of 5 stars

20309175

GEORGE BY ALEX GINO

MY RATING: 4 out of 5 stars

24612624

ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES BY JENNIFER NIVEN

MY RATING: 5 out 5 stars

All the Bright Places

Not all of these novels have reviews yet, but they are to come! Like I said before, I think I had a pretty successful reading month — all the novels I read this month were amazing and I can’t wait to read more from each of those authors. Feel free to check out my reviews as well!

THE ART:

I actually didn’t get to paint/sketch at all this month, however I am pretty okay with that. I think this is partially because I didn’t have time, but also because I was more focused on reading. And since I read such beautiful novels and I got out of my reading slump, I’m okay 🙂

Bi-Weekly Wrap-Up | April

Random Fact of the Day: Charles Richter, the American scientist who developed the Richter scale, was an avid nudist.

Hello! It is the middle-ish of this month, therefore I am dedicating today to my Bi-Weekly Wrap-Up — this is almost like my regular Monthly Wrap-Ups, but instead it’s just a two week kind of “check in” post! How has the life of Jesalin been this April?

  • School is back up for me again and I officially have about a month and a half left for my sophomore year of high school (thank the man upstairs)!! Supposedly this year was supposed to be the easiest (as I have heard from people at my school), but honestly, this year was full of crap. 🙂
  • If you haven’t heard yet from my social media, or you missed my discussion post, I AM GOING TO YALLWEST!!!! I know a few IRL people who are going, but also some bloggers so I am really excited to attend the event at the end of this month!
  • Speaking of YALLWest, during that week (from the 23rd-30th) I probably won’t be posting consistently like I usually do. So if you barely see my posts in your feed, know that’s because I was busy with YALLWest and I didn’t have time to pre-blog. However I will be trying to at least post maybe every other day or two.
  • This is incredibly irrelevant, but I finally got around to watching Zootopia in theatres and it was SO cute!! (sorry, had to share because it had so much hype)
  • 20 days until Captain America: Civil War!!!!

  • I recently posted my April Book Haul, so if you missed that you can check it out here!
  • I read a few novels this month and I am extremely proud of myself because that means I am not longer in my slump!!
  • I posted a long-awaited review for Popular: Vintage Wisdom of a Modern Geek by Maya Van Wagenen here!
  • I should have a few more reviews coming up either at the end of this month or in May, so stay tuned!
  • I am currently reading My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins and written many authors, and also George by Alex Gino. Both novels are very satisfactory, and I can’t wait to finish them both!

Ta-da! That is all for this month’s Bi-Weekly Wrap-Up! I hope YOU, yes you reading this, are having a wonderful weekend and you are enjoying your (hopefully) free time!! Are you going to YALLWest? Are you excited for Civil War like me?? How many novels have you read so far this month? Feel free to chat with me in the comments!

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…

January Wrap-Up!

jan

Hello, hello, hello!! It is the end of the first month of 2016! This month actually went by pretty fast, so that was cool, lol. But now onto my Wrap-Up…

This month I completed three novels. Here are those & their ratings:

The Future of Us by Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

10959277

Falling into Place by Amy Zhang

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

18163646

Never, Never: Part Two by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

24422492

As you can see I read some pretty awesome novels this month, especially Never, Never!! I don’t have a review up for that one yet, but for the first two I do. So if you are interested in my thoughts and such, I recommend you click on the link provided! I can admit that I could’ve read a lot more this month, but there’s always next month! Oh, and I DID stick to my TBR (for the most part), so yay me! 🙂

I did create one art piece in the beginning of the month, and I do love it a lot! This is actually one of my favorite pieces that I have made so far, so that was also a plus!

September Book/Art Wrap-Up

IMG_7050

As September has come to an end, I get to share my completions of this month. September went by amazingly fast for some odd reason, but I mean, it’s one month closer to Christmas! I did get a few books read this month, along with a painting and an activity page done. So, I will be listing those today!

I want to start with my art related items first because that’s quick and easy. This month I painted (finally) and I finished a page in my 1,000 Dot to Dot Icons booklet from Michaels (if you missed that Art Haul, check it out here)

Here are some snapshots of those:

FullSizeRender (47) FullSizeRender (48)I had a wonderful time getting the chance to paint at least once this month. This painting is combined with a new technique I’ve learned and I have to say it was pretty successful. The Dot to Dot page was fun as well. It was exciting to see the ending result and to actually have completed one.

And now onto my finished books:

The Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan

My Rating: 2.75 out of 5 stars

913371

They’re Not Like Us Volume 1 by Eric Stephenson

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

images (1)

Looking for Alaska by John Green (reread)

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

looking-for-alaska

So just like last month, I only read 3 books/graphic novels. I realize now that I made my TBR way too ambitiously because I knew I had to focus my reading on my English novel, The Hundred Secret Senses. But there’s always this month…

Speaking of this month, I won’t be posting any reviews on these novels. I might type up one for Looking For Alaska, but other than that I won’t have time to post the others. I will be saying more about this in my October TBR.
