January Wrap-Up!

jan

Hello, hello, hello!! It is the end of the first month of 2016! This month actually went by pretty fast, so that was cool, lol. But now onto my Wrap-Up…

This month I completed three novels. Here are those & their ratings:

The Future of Us by Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

10959277

Falling into Place by Amy Zhang

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

18163646

Never, Never: Part Two by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

24422492

As you can see I read some pretty awesome novels this month, especially Never, Never!! I don’t have a review up for that one yet, but for the first two I do. So if you are interested in my thoughts and such, I recommend you click on the link provided! I can admit that I could’ve read a lot more this month, but there’s always next month! Oh, and I DID stick to my TBR (for the most part), so yay me! 🙂

I did create one art piece in the beginning of the month, and I do love it a lot! This is actually one of my favorite pieces that I have made so far, so that was also a plus!

Bum, bum, buuuuuum!!! Welcome to another FWF post, my friends!

Feature with Followers is a weekly meme created by JBelkBooks (me) where I will be showcasing one of my AMAZING followers. This gives me an opportunity to really get to know them and give them an opportunity to get their blogs out there in the community. The way I choose my featured follower is Top Secret, so wait for your chance to be featured!

Today is the last day of January (my goodness) (stay tuned for my Wrap-Up), but I still have one more feature before the month ends. Today I am featuring a very friendly and amazing blogger. She has the COOLEST name and I’ve been loving all the interactions I’ve had with her. Here are some hints on who this week’s FWF could be:

  • She is currently reading Legend by Marie Lu.
  • She participated in NaNoWriMo last year.
  • She recently posted a book haul (I am jealous, lol)

Astra @ A Stranger’s Guide to Novels!!!

mmlm

ABOUT ASTRA: Hey fellow bibliophiles ! I’m Astra, a teenage girl with a serious obsession with chocolate, books and loads in between! I live on a small island called the United Kingdom and my favourite genres to read are fantasy, historical fiction and contemporary. My book role model is Hermione Granger and book crush…there are too many! Other than reading and blogging, I like being an awkward human and enjoy listening to music, watching Doctor Who and Sherlock and writing when I can!

MEWhen did your blogging journey begin and why did you decide to start?

ASTRA: My blogging journey started last year October. So not for that long, but I’m loving this blogging community already! I decided to start because I finished a fabulous book, Red Queen and just really wanted to talk about it! It sounds a little trivial now but I really just wanted to discuss the book and how much I loved it. I stumbled upon some reviews on Youtube, then booktubers and then I wanted to become a booktuber and then realised that I was too camera shy for that. Creating a book blog was the natural step after. I simply wanted to create a space where I could talk to people about book. I hope I’ve achieved that!

[I can totally relate to the camera shy thing. I thought I could do it, but nah, lol.]

ME: What are three things that make you happy?

ASTRA:

1) Books (shocker!)
2) Chocolate
3) Points 1 and 2 put together 🙂
[Haha, very clever of you Astra. I also love books, not so much milk chocolate, but definitely dark chocolate 😉 ]
ME: Besides reading and blogging, what else do you do with your spare time?
ASTRA: I like to write a lot and when I can, I love going to the cinema. Music is a great love of mine too- listening to it, not making it!
ME: Would you rather read a book with a cliffhanger ending or read a book with a heartbreaking ending?
ASTRA: It depends on the type of book! For standalones I would much prefer a heartbreaking ending, but for series cliffhanger ending are the best! (Even if you will have to wait a whole year for the next one in the series.)
[Ooo, very well thought out answer!!]
ME: Did you make any resolutions or goals this year? If so, what is one and have you achieved it yet? If not, give a random fact about you.
ASTRA: My main one is to read more classics. I am currently taking part in the classics challenge, which is where you read a classic a month, but I’m thinking of reading two a month just to challenge myself. One I recently added is to read more general fiction books. I don’t want to limit myself to YA just because of my age, so I’m branching out a bit. Another is to not worry about pointless stuff! I have no time for that this year.
[I agree with EVERYthing you just said! Especially the last part about not worrying about pointless stuff. Maybe we can conquer these goals together..?! 😀 ]

Oh, Astra, we have a ton in common! Who knew we’d both have the same goals and opinions?? Anyways, as I mentioned before Astra is a very wonderful & interesting human being in which I enjoyed learning more about. I am very happy to have gotten in touch with her & of course shared her with you guys today. Obviously she does have a blog (linked above) so I definitely think you guys should check it out soon. One thing about Astra that I really love is her willingness to interact with her followers/following. Ever since she has followed me, I’ve always seen her name in my notifications, so thank you Astra 🙂

You can find Astra on any of the social media listed below. Just click on the icon and it’ll take you straight to her profile!

Thank you a ton to Astra for taking the time to chat with me and share yourself more with the blogging community. I enjoyed talking with you a little bit and getting to know you more as a person and as a blogger.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…
