The Coffee Book Tag!

Hi and welcome to another tag post! Okay, when I first saw this tag I was like YAAASSS, COFFEE!! So thank you Meri @ Laugh and Be Meri for thinking of me for this tag! Without further distractions, let’s get straight into it!

BLACK: A SERIES THAT’S TOUGH TO GET INTO BUT HAS HARDCORE FANS

Okay, this one isn’t from experience, but rather from the chatterings of people on Booktube, Twitter, and even on WP. I’ve been hearing a lot of people (including Meri) that The Game of Thrones series is really challenging to get through. I, myself, isn’t too interested in the series, but I know there are A TON of people who absolutely adore the series.

PEPPERMINT MOCHA: A BOOK THAT GETS MORE POPULAR DURING THE WINTER OR A FESTIVE TIME OF YEAR

I actually just bought My True Love Gave To Me in my March Book Haul because during Christmas last year everyone on Booktube was reading it, lol. Even though it technically isn’t Winter anymore here in California, I still want to read this novel soon, haha.

HOT CHOCOLATE: A FAVOURITE CHILDREN’S BOOK

My goodness, I have so many!! But the one that immediately came to mind was Shel Silverstein’s, Where the Sidewalk Ends. I absolutely love Silverstein’s work and this novel in particular brings back some good memories. ❤

DOUBLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO: A BOOK THAT KEPT YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT FROM START TO FINISH

For this one I thought of two novels. But out of the two, I guess I had to pick one..And that one is Never, Never: Part One & Two (haven’t read three yet) by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher. CH and TF definitely know how to keep readers on their toes and constantly turning the page because I finished Part One in one sitting, and Part Two in a span of maybe two days? So yes, I love these two novels.

STARBUCKS: A BOOK YOU SEE EVERYWHERE

Right now, I definitely see Me Before You by Jojo Moyes EVERYWHERE — Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, WP, etc. And yes, I understand why; the movie is coming out and everyone loves an emotional read. However, I have yet to read it, lol.

THAT HIPSTER COFFEE SHOP: A BOOK BY AN INDIE AUTHOR (A SHOUTOUT)

I’m not going to answer this one mainly because the definition of an Indie Author has expanded over the years and I am really not clear on what aspects justify an Indie Author. I know the basics and whatever, but there are some authors that aren’t considered Indie by some people, and then others they are. So I’ll just keep this one as an N/A.

OOPS! I ACCIDENTALLY GOT DECAF: A BOOK YOU WERE EXPECTING MORE FROM

15797938For this one I am choosing The Dinner by Herman Koch. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this novel, but I was expecting to actually complete it. I DNFed this novel last year because I couldn’t connect with the characters and I really didn’t understand the point of the novel. On Goodreads it has about 3 stars but several people that reviewed the novel was comparing it to Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. And I enjoyed Gone Girl, so I was a little disappointed when I couldn’t get into Koch’s.

THE PERFECT BLEND: A BOOK OR SERIES THAT WAS BOTH BITTER AND SWEET, BUT ULTIMATELY SATISFYING

6408862Definitely Stolen by Lucy Christopher. This is one of my favorite books, just because of the “perfect blend” of feelings that I felt when reading it. The novel itself was PRETTY bitter, but I found myself smiling or laughing at the more weird parts of the novel, lol. So yes, it was ultimately satisfying to me and I should really read more from Christopher.

GREEN TEA: A BOOK OR SERIES THAT IS QUIETLY BEAUTIFUL

For this one I couldn’t just pick one, so I chose Falling into Place by Amy Zhang and Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Both of these novels deal with the same topic & I appreciate how they interpret and express mental illness is different ways. Praise to Zhang and Asher… ❤

CHAI TEA: A BOOK OR SERIES THAT MAKES YOU DREAM OF FAR OFF PLACES

I don’t know…Off the top of my head I can’t really think anything. And I’m not near my bookcase, so I’m not gonna choose something for this one…N/A!

EARL GREY: A FAVOURITE CLASSIC

I don’t read a ton of classics, and the ones I have read weren’t too interesting. Therefore, this is another N/A, my friends! However it is a goal this year to read more classics!!

And that is all for the Coffee Book Tag! If YOU are reading this, I tag YOU to take upon this awesome & fun tag! Let me know your responses to these topics and if we have some common answers! Have a great week, guys! 🙂

  1. Haha, you matched up all the coffees and books perfectly. Agree, agree, lately Me Before You is everywhere! Browsing through enough book blogs, it’s interesting to see books trending like that. Another recently trending book, I think, is I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson.

  2. Awesome answers and I completely agree for me before you and game of thrones!! Well I’m an hardcore fan for Hunger Games and Harry Potter (since I know just a few people that don’t criticize them) so I know what it means to be on both of the side…
