Friday Finds [Aug. 25th]

bi-weekly-wrap-up-8

Random Quote of the Day: “Never despair; but if you do, work on in despair.” – Edmund Burke

Hello sunshines! 🔆

HAPPY FRIDAY!! It has been a long week and I am excited that it is now the weekend!

Friday Finds is a meme hosted by @adailyrhythm. It is a chance for you to showcase the books you’ve ‘found’ and added to your TBR list! They do not have to be books you purchased and they could’ve been found anywhere — bookstores, online, library, etc. I don’t know how many Finds I’ll actually be sharing today just because this week has been pretty crazy and hence, I haven’t had much time to venture through GR to discover new Finds. But anyways, here’s what I HAVE found since my last Friday Finds (:

32682118The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide. Pay close attention and you might solve this. On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule. Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess. Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing. Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher. And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app…

In this gorgeous companion to the acclaimed Over and Under the Snow and Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt, Kate Messner and Christopher Silas Neal bring to life a secret underwater world. In this book, readers will discover the plants and animals that make up the rich, interconnected ecosystem of a mountain pond. Over the pond, the water is a mirror, reflecting the sky. But under the pond is a hidden world of minnows darting, beavers diving, tadpoles growing…

Title: ARISTOTLE AND DANTE DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE

Author: Benjamin Alire Saenz

Genre: Young Adult, Realistic Fiction

Published: February 21st, 2012

Okay, if you haven’t seen this cover or even heard of this novel yet then you are living under a rock. Not only is the cover drop dead gorgeous, but it’s also a DIVERSE READ so many people have talked about it all over the media. I, myself, haven’t read this beauty but it is on my TBR! I love the font of the title and just the overall artistic feel of the cover. This novel has elements of LGBTQIA+ and Coming of Age so if you interested in those topics, feel free to read the synopsis down below!

OMG This Song Book Tag!

bi-weekly-wrap-up-12

Random Quote of the Day: “If a problem has no solution, it may not be a problem, but a fact – not to be solved, but to be coped with over time.” – Shimon Peres

Hello sunshines! 🔆

I have finally been actually tagged — it’s a miracle! Thank you to Ann @ Ann’s Reading Corner for thinking of me for this; I very much appreciate it! (:

The OMG THIS SONG Book Tag was created by Katie @ Katesbookdate, so feel free to check out her original video for details about the tag! Let’s get started!

MY JAM:
A SONG YOU MUST LISTEN TO EVERY TIME IT COMES ON, NO MATTER HOW OLD OR HOW MANY TIMES YOU’VE LISTENED TO IT / A BOOK YOU’LL NEVER GET SICK OF

📚 LOOKING FOR ALASKA by John Green —  my all time favorite book hands down. If you don’t enjoy this novel then I feel extremely sad for you I completely support your opinion! 😄

🎶 DIVE by Ed Sheeran — anything Ed Sheeran I will never get tired of because he is SO AMAZING and he MAKES ME WANT TO CRY TEARS OF HAPPINESS AND SADNESS AT THE SAME TIME!!

THROWBACK:
A SONG THAT REMINDS YOU OF THE CRINGEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE / A BOOK THAT ALSO REMINDS YOU OF THIS TIME (OR JUST SOMETHING YOU WOULDN’T LIKE AS MUCH IF YOU PICKED IT UP FOR THE FIRST TIME NOW)

📚 THE MAZE RUNNER SERIES by James Dashner — it was an okay series and I didn’t really enjoy any of the other novels after the first one. I forced myself to finish the series lol.

🎶 SKYSCRAPER by Demi Lovato — this moment in life wasn’t necessarily cringy, but it was a time that I wish I never spent so much dreading over. Don’t get me wrong, I love Demi, but that song put me in my feels for more than I would have liked.

Which Cover Wednesday [#33]

bi-weekly-wrap-up-7

Random Quote of the Day: “No one really listens to anyone else, and if you try it for a while you’ll see why.” – Mignon McLaughlin

Hello sunshines! 🔆 Which Cover Wednesday is a post hosted by Sumaya @suereadingcorner. For this post, you choose two different covers of the same book — the books can have different publishers, different formats, etc. Then you decide which one you think is more appealing. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but if you guys ever have theme recommendations or recs in general for WCW, please feel free to comment them!😀 Let’s get onto the debate! ⚔

Okay this one is actually a little tricky. I own the first cover and it’s actually not that bad for how simplistic it is. However I really love the quality of the second cover…Hmmm…I think I’ll have to go with the SECOND COVER. I don’t know what it is but I really enjoy it!

Friday Finds [Aug. 4th]

bi-weekly-wrap-up-8

Random Quote of the Day: “Insane people are always sure that they are fine. It is only the sane people who are willing to admit that they are crazy.” – Nora Ephron

Hello sunshines! 🔆 It is officially Friday!! I hope everyone had a worthwhile week and if not, here’s your chance to make up for such a boring week with the weekend!!

Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?

Amanda Hardy is the new girl in school in Lambertville, Tennessee. Like any other girl, all she wants is to make friends and fit in. But Amanda is keeping a secret. There’s a reason why she transferred schools for her senior year, and why she’s determined not to get too close to anyone. And then she meets Grant Everett. Grant is unlike anyone she’s ever met—open, honest, kind—and Amanda can’t help but start to let him into her life. As they spend more time together, she finds herself yearning to share with Grant everything about herself…including her past. But she’s terrified that once she tells Grant the truth, he won’t be able to see past it…

What?? A Book Review?! | Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol

bi-weekly-wrap-up-21

Random Quote of the Day: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso

IMG_5681

Title: Anya’s Ghost

Author(s): Vera Brosgol

Genre: Graphic Novel, YA, Fantasy

Page Count: 221

Published: June 7th, 2011

Format: Paperback

Source: Purchased

BUY HERE: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository

“Anya could really use a friend. But her new BFF isn’t kidding about the “Forever” part.

Of all the things Anya expected to find at the bottom of an old well, a new friend was not one of them. Especially not a new friend who’s been dead for a century.

Falling down a well is bad enough, but Anya’s normal life might actually be worse. She’s embarrassed by her family, self-conscious about her body, and she’s pretty much given up on fitting in at school. A new friend—even a ghost—is just what she needs.

Or so she thinks. Spooky, sardonic, and secretly sincere, Anya’s Ghost is a wonderfully entertaining debut from author/artist Vera Brosgol.”
