Top Ten Tuesday Past Editions [#42]

bi-weekly-wrap-up-6

Random Quote of the Day: “I didn’t really say everything I said.”- Yogi Berra

Hello sunshines! 🔆 Today I am taking the opportunity to tackle some past TTT topics that I missed! Since school I starting up soon (sadly), I decided to talk about the BACK TO SCHOOL Freebie! I don’t know about you, but I LOVE back-to-school shopping! With that being said, I am listing TEN FAVORITE BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES!

PLANNERS

If you struggle with organization and procrastination and truly suggest that you Screenshot (7)invest in a planner! It doesn’t have to be anything special and if you don’t want to purchase one, there are a ton of DIY templates online! I use my planner daily as I write down homework assignments, deadlines, and lots of other useful notes. Some of my favorite planners are: PASSION PLANNER, PLANNERS FROM TARGET, or the BULLET JOURNAL system! I currently own a BUJO so if anyone is interested in a flip-through, definitely let me know in the comments!

ZEBRA MILDLINERS

IMG_5632I recently found these beauties and I love them SO much. They come in various colors and they do not bleed through the paper UNLESS you apply several layers. Mildliners are essentially highlighters, but I use it for notes, quick sketches, and other minimal designs. These mildliners are double ended — one side with a bold chisel tip and the other being a thin fine point. I bought mine on AMAZON, but I’m sure you can find them other places online. I’m not sure if they are sold in stores since they are a Japanese brand, but let me know if they have them in stores near you!!

What?? A Book Review?! | Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol

bi-weekly-wrap-up-21

Random Quote of the Day: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” – Pablo Picasso

Title: Anya’s Ghost

Author(s): Vera Brosgol

Genre: Graphic Novel, YA, Fantasy

Page Count: 221

Format: Paperback

“Anya could really use a friend. But her new BFF isn’t kidding about the “Forever” part.

Of all the things Anya expected to find at the bottom of an old well, a new friend was not one of them. Especially not a new friend who’s been dead for a century.

Falling down a well is bad enough, but Anya’s normal life might actually be worse. She’s embarrassed by her family, self-conscious about her body, and she’s pretty much given up on fitting in at school. A new friend—even a ghost—is just what she needs.

Or so she thinks. Spooky, sardonic, and secretly sincere, Anya’s Ghost is a wonderfully entertaining debut from author/artist Vera Brosgol.”

Happy Blogiversary To Me! + GIVEAWAY | Two Years and Counting

HAPPY BLOGIVERSAY, JBELKBOOKS (1).png

Random Quote of the Day: “CELEBRATE WITH ME!” – JBelkBooks

Image result for balloon flying gifHello sunshines! 🔆 Two years ago JBelkBooks was featured on the internet so all could see and I am so excited to say that it has been an amazing experience. It simply does not feel that I’ve been blogging and interacting with all of you for over 365 days — time has flown by so fast!

Last year, I told myself I was planning to self-host, visit Book-Expo America, and expand my knowledge. As you can tell, I did not self-host yet simply because I haven’t gotten around to actually planning out a new layout. This task probably won’t be complete until next year or the new year if I’m being honest. As for BEA, that one was a stretch since it’s not located near me and it would be pretty expensive. I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to go to BEA, but I’m hoping for the near future. The only task that I did somewhat complete is expanding my knowledge. I’ve become more active in promoting Diverse reads and doing my research before I purchased/read novels. It has been a journey for myself as I am beginning to read more #OwnVoices novels and really investing my time and money into indie authors, bookstores, and authors of color. Of course, I am still learning but I know that it’ll be an interesting and worthwhile educational opportunity.

While I do have other favorite posts for the year, these are the two that I have poured my heart and soul into. I hope you had the chance to visit and comment on these posts when they were Live, but if not, let that be my Blogiversary gift! Feel free to visit these posts and let me know that you’ve done so!

💬A SMALL GUIDE TO DIVERSITY

Screenshot (5).pngThis has to be one of my favorite discussion posts as it’s the first time I’ve actually expressed my thoughts surrounding Diversity in our novels. Posts like these are always risky in our society and community as not everyone will agree with your thoughts, but with the interactions I gained with the post, I can say that it was successful. Everyone in our community is continuously educating each other positively and it is an honor to be surrounded by such people. YOU have helped my blog and I grow and I am forever thankful.

💬HOW/WHY TO COMMENT LIKE YOU CARE

Screenshot (6).png

This is another post near and dear to my heart. This is one of my first discussion posts that had phenomenal feedback and comments. I truthfully typed from the heart with that post and it made me extremely happy to know that you guys actually read the post. I definitely recommend that you visit that post and read what I had to say because I’m sure some of you will agree with my thoughts!

Happy Bookaholic Tag!

bi-weekly-wrap-up-12

Random Quote of the Day: “Be a fountain, not a drain.” – Rex Hudler

Hello sunshines! 🔆 I actually haven’t done a tag in such a long time but I am a excited to do this one! THE HAPPY BOOKAHOLIC tag is created by about Happy Books on Youtube and it was originally posted so that we could talk about books and why/how we buy them!! This is my favorite hobby to do on my spare time and why not share it with everyone?? (:

1. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BUYING NEW BOOKS?

Image result for buying books gifI love buying books because it makes me happy. I know this is the cliche answer that you were expecting, but it definitely does make me happy. It’s something that I look forward to — visiting the bookstore, or even shopping online. Now, this may be the reason why I am extremely broke and I haven’t bought books in a while, but the idea of buying books makes me even happier!! (:

2. HOW OFTEN DO YOU BUY NEW BOOKS?

Well, when I wasn’t AS broke as I am now, I used to buy books maybe every other month? It was crazy how much I bought books but in the end it made me HAPPY and that’s all that matters!

Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At seventeen she’s already lost more than most people lose in a lifetime. But she’s learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don’t have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you.

Every new scar hardens Charlie’s heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.”

Before Reading Thoughts.png

I was really excited to read GIP because I had heard pretty good things about it, and how it has been compared with Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (a novel I thoroughly enjoyed). So when I saw it on BFB I had to request it! (:
