Random Quote of the Day: “Henceforth I ask not good fortune. I myself am good fortune. ” – Walt Whitman
Hello sunshines! 🔆 I know I’ve been unexpectedly gone this past week, but this will ALL be explained in my very late April Wrap-Up! But for the time being, I’m sharing another TTT post! This week’s topic is…Top Ten Things On My Reading Wishlist!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week I will post a new Top Ten List. This list includes topics such as ‘my top ten favorite authors’ or ‘my top ten books of this month’. The topics will change, so make sure you stay tuned for each week! Feel free to comment or link your Top Ten Tuesday lists below and I’ll be more than happy to check them out!
This one is a no-brainer, but I felt like it still needed to be said. When I say diversity, I don’t just mean racial-wise, but other cultures, backgrounds, mental illnesses, etc. You can NEVER have too much Diversity!! ❤️️💛💙💜💚
MORE NOVELS ABOUT BOOK-LOVERS
When I read books about a main character that loves to read, blog, paint, etc. it makes me so happy because I can relate to them so well!!
MORE NOVELS SET OUTSIDE THE U.S.
I know this is partly my fault that I keep picking up novels set in my country, but I would to read other novels that ARE NOT taken place in the U.S. I think the writing would be different and I’d definitely get a “feel” for other cultures that way. Since I am Guamanian and African American, I would love to read YA novels set in Guam or Africa! 🇬🇺
MORE RECOGNITION OF LGBTQIA+
Yes, there are a ton of LGBTQIA+ novels out there, but I definitely want to see more of the BTQIA+ individuals and communities! These people exist and I really think we should be more vocal about different sexualities!
MC’S THAT ACTUALLY HAVE MORE “HUMAN” QUALITIES
I’ve heard this one before and I completely agree with those that are expressing that we barely see MC’s who take showers or use the restroom or masturbate (yes, I said masturbate). These are ALL totally normal things that us humans do. I’m not saying that these actions have to be explicitly described, but I think it should be mentioned more in our YA novels!
This topic is rarely talked about in YA and I would LOVE to see an other write about an individuals or many individuals that deal with this and possibly conquer it! It’s a major situation today (especially in the media) so I think it would be a great way for an author to express an important topic!
And there we go my loves! I hope you all enjoyed this post, and if you have any recommendations that revolve any of these topics mentioned, definitely let me know!! As always, I hope you are having an amazing week thus far! Keep being YOU!! ❤
Stay tuned for my long-awaited April Wrap-Up!! (:
Thanks for reading & I’ll see you next time…
