Random Quote of the Day: “Nature made him, and then broke the mold.” – Ludovico Ariosto

Hello sunshines! ๐Ÿ”† I know I rarely talk about anything art-related on my blog, but I’ve been asked a few times in the comments what my all time favorite art supplies are. So today I am sharing MY TOP 5 FAVORITE ART SUPPLIES!

โœ๏ธ PRISMACOLOR PREMIER: SET OF 79 โœ๏ธ

These were my most expensive investment early in my artist hobby and I do not regret it! I love these Prismacolors — they are really easy to use, suitable for any sketchbook, and there are such a variety of colors! I’m really happy that it came with other supplies besides Prismacolors; they included a few watercolor pencils, artist chalk pastels, & Verithin Colored Pencils! I don’t use them too often because I am primarily a painter, but here are a few works that I’ve created using the Prismacolors.

๐Ÿ–Œ KOI WATERCOLOR BRUSH PENS: Set of 12๐Ÿ–Œ

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

I haven’t used these much, but just like the Pentel Brush Pen they have a nice brush tip and the colors are very vibrant. This is a great substitution for someone not looking for the “messiness” of traditional watercolors. I don’t know if they sell bigger varieties than the 12 pack, but this set of colors is pretty good for a small sketch or drawing.

๐Ÿ–Š PENTEL ARTS POCKET BRUSH PEN ๐Ÿ–Š

I love, love, love using this Brush Pen to help enhance my sketches. It doesn’t bleed through the paper and the brush is firm but flexible in the sense that you can get a variety of line intensities with it.

๐Ÿ–ŒWINSOR & NEWTON COTMAN WATERCOLORS: Set of 24 ๐Ÿ–Œ

This has been my most recent expensive investment besides the Prismacolors, and again, I do not regret it! This set of colors is very diverse, the paint is extremely pigmented, and they are pan sets so they are replaceable! I love that it offers two spots for mixing and the pans were filled to the brim when I got them. It is very compact and great for traveling,ย but I personally would not recommend this palette if you are not familiar with watercolors since they are pretty expensive (at least for me, lol). W&N does offer a smaller pan set, so you can look into those at a lesser price if you are interested! (:

๐ŸŽจ LIQUITEX ACRYLIC COLOR BASICS ๐ŸŽจ

These are my favorite acrylics ever! Granted I haven’t really tried out any other acrylics, but I haven’t had to because these are very reliable paints. They are inexpensive but work really well from what I’ve experienced. At my local art supply store they sell a ton of other colors besides the ones I have shown above, but I haven’t had to buy other colors besides those since I am able to mix them. Every art pieces that I have shown you guys have mostly been created using these acrylics, so yes, these are definitely a favorite of mine (:

  1. Ah! The pictures made my heart flutter.

  2. I take design/graphics/whatever-you-call-it and I spent over 100 dollars on alcohol markets (I did get over 100 markers and they ended up costing me less than a dollar each)
I want to get some nice brush pens, preferably not watercolour just because I use alcohol based pens and I found that water soluble pens bleed with them. I can’t find any good brush pens that aren’t ridiculous priced. it’s hard in nz to find art/design supplies at a good price because everything’s a rip off and tbh you’re better off buying it online

    • Wow, I could never imagine paying that much for markers! Were they at least good quality??

I love brush pens — are you referring to the ink kind or..? I usually buy my supplies online just because like you said they are usually WAY cheaper. If I ever get the chance to send something your way expect loads of art supplies!! ๐Ÿ˜€
