Random Quote of the Day: “Of those who say nothing, few are silent.” – Thomas Neill
Hello sunshines! 🔆 Happy First Day of 2017! I thought I’d start this year off right with my 2017 Goals & Challenges, just to make it look like I actually have something to do with my life have something to look forward to at the end of the year!
Reach 600 WordPress followers! I am currently at 439 WP followers — 1,159 if you are taking into consideration my Twitter followers.
Blog at-least 3-4 times a week! I did exceptionally well last year with this goal set at 2-3 times a week (except those few weeks where school got in the way), so I wanted to increase it a little bit.
Keep my blog clean & organized. Last year, I would get behind and forget to categorize my posts. I already fixed this so it wouldn’t be a hassle, but we all know once the year proceeds, sometimes we get lazy (or is it just me?).
Comment more! This is always a goal of mine, and because of this I will be taking part in the seasonal 2017 Commenting Challenge hosted by Alicia @ A Kernel of Nonsense. I was too late in signing up for the January Challenge, but I will be signing up for February. Details here.
Read 10 novels! (this is my GR Reading Goal) I know, 10 is such a small number and YOU can probably read 10 novels in a week/month. But, I found that setting my goals low and then gradually increasing the goal is the best way to not get discouraged. So, 10 is the golden number right now! 🙂
Venture outside of my comfort zone. I want to read more classics and novels with diversity. This does include series, just because I was never a series fan unless I owned ALL the books in the series first — then I would read it. This will be represented later on with my Challenges!
Complete the Read The Books You Buy Reading Challenge hosted by Kathryn @ The Book Date. I will be striving to read 41-60% of the books I buy, including those bought after July 2016. However, I am only listing novels that I’ve purchased (+ subscription boxes)– not those sent for review, won in a giveaway, or received at a book event. My progress will be documented using Goodreads; you can follow my progress HERE. Details here.
Complete the 2017 Diverse Reads Book Challenge hosted by Mishma @ Chasing Faerytales & Shelly & Read.Sleep.Repeat. I am really excited to start this challenge, and if you are unaware of this Challenge, check it out HERE. You can follow my progress HERE.
Get a job & my driving permit/license! I’m 16 and I still have yet to get both of those. My license will take a while, but as for a job & permit, I can get those mid-2017 (or will try to).
Limit my spending (especially for books). I’m putting myself on restriction and ONLY buying books maybe every 2-3 months. This shall be interesting…
Balance life, blogging, and reading. Once again, a constant goal of mine just because time management is a struggle. Next mid-year, I’ll be entering my Senior year of high school, so we’ll see how this goal goes xD
Go to YALLWest 2017, The Bay Area Book Festival 2017, and many more book events! I’m really stoked that I already have events planned for January — a blogger & author speaking panel & a blogger & author brunch!
Be completely vegetarian! Since July 2016, I was a pescatarian. But, I’ve decided that one of my 2017 resolutions is to go big or go home — no seafood!! This will be difficult for me, since I’ve found many meals that include fish, tuna, etc. So, again, we’ll see how this goes. RECIPES ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED!!!
I tried to stay within reasonable grounds for my goals, so I listed 4-5 goals for each aspect of my life. 2017 should be interesting! 😁
What are your plans/goals for 2017? Do you have any vegetarian recipes? What challenges are you joining? Chat with me in the comments because your voice matters! 💬

Ooo I really liked the layout of this post and the goals you set. I’m currently in the process of organizing my goal, farewell 2016, and fave books of 2016 posts. It got a bit messy and my laptop died so I did the next best thing and read! I’ll get back to it later though! I want to be more active on my blog this year and really make an effort with commenting and becoming more part of this awesome community. I’m not vegetarian but I do love some amazing vegetarian recipes. Pinterest is really good for ideas. I makes myself a bento box with veggies, cheese and things like rice paper rolls to eat during the day. I’ve just found a recipe for roasted chickpeas that look really good so I’m going to try them later!

Wow, thank you so much!! I’m sure when the time comes you’ll have your post up — I can’t wait to read it! (oh, and yes, reading is ALWAYS the best thing)! 😉
I wish you the very best with all those goals — I know you can achieve them! I would love to see more content from you just to add more to the community.
As for vegetarian recipes, I’ve found a few via Pinterest, but I haven’t tried a bento box! I’ve seen them around, but I’ll definitely have to look into them.
Thanks for stopping by & Happy New Year! ❤

It’s cool to see that both of us are aiming to get our licence this year, I can only get my learners but its better than nothing !
Balancing blogging, reading and school is really hard. I’m worried I’m going to unintentionally neglect my blog due to AS. Hopefully I’ll get a ridiculous amount of posts scheduled or at least planned for a while (probably not going to happen )
Your Goodreads challenge is actually a really good idea ! I would do something like that but I can see myself not bothering to change it

Oh yeah, that’s so cool!! I wish you the best of luck with getting your learners — I have to get my learners first, and then wait 6 months to get my license. However, I could’ve gotten my learners a long time ago… 😅
I’m sure you’ll be okay — I know you can do it!! And if it comes to the fact that you can’t keep up with your blog, that’s okay! Just take a break and come back (even though I’ll miss you a ton) I am always willing to type up a guest post for you if it comes to that — just let me know! (:
I know, my GR challenge was something I wasn’t planning, just because like you, I might be subject to changing it. But, we’ll see how that goes xD

what’s the legal driving age for you? Ours is sixteen, I’m sixteen in March but I can already start studying for it!
Wait people do that? Thank you for the offer! I will definitely ask if I need to
Don’t worry your GR challenge will go great!

In California, you have to be 16 to be able to get your learners, and then you have to wait 6 months to get your license. But when you turn 18, you don’t have to test for your permit — you can just get your license.

That’s weird, it doesnt matter how old you are in NZ you always have to get your learners first

Ooh, really?? That is weird…but that might explain why we have some reckless drivers here in the U.S. xD

We definitely have a few reckless drivers here in New Zealand. I think it’s just important to drive safely and follow the rules not only for your own safety but for others as well

Oh yeah, of course. That’s literally one of my biggest fears when thinking about driving — I have to worry about not only myself, but others. And I am one to ALWAYS worry about those around me…

Glad you’ll be joining the Comment Challenge for February. We haven’t had anyone drop out for January, but I was totally on the look out for you. I need to limit my spending when it comes to books as well in 2017. They’re just so hard to resist! Good luck with getting your license and finding a job. Hope your 2017 is full of fantastic planned and unplanned occurrences!

Aw thank you! It’s exciting to publish goals and achievements in a place where you can work on them with other people!
You’re so sweet! It’s so fun working on posts to publish and reading everyone else’s!
I’d definitely recommend bento boxes! They make it really easy to know what you’ve eaten and have to eat in a day! xx Maddie❤😊

Oh yeah, of course!! To see everyone’s achievements always brings a joy into the community. I’ll be looking into bento boxes, especially because they sound/look so cute!! 😊

My goodreads reading goal for this year is 7 books! I can probably read that many in one month. BUT I decided that I don’t want to stress myself with numbers this year, sooo I don’t plan on changing it! 🙂
Good luck with all your resolutions!

Haha, well I’m happy I’m not the only one! I think I might leave it at 10 for the whole year, instead of changing it gradually.
Thank you & good luck to you, as well! 🙂
