NEW YEAR, NEW ME (?)

IMG_1271

A few weeks prior to August I posted a “1 Like = 1 Fact About Me” tweet via Twitter, and a few people have liked that tweet! I also mentioned in my June Bi-Weekly Wrap-Up that if you liked that post, that would count as 1 Fact as well, so that makes 31 Facts About Me! However, that is A LOT of facts…so I decided to cut that number in half just because this will be a VERY long post otherwise, lol. Therefore, I will be sharing 15-16 NEVER-SAID before facts with you all!! 🙂

I am half Guamanian and half African American!

I got my very first bookcase this year with the courtesy of my parents..

I’m considering studying abroad after high school, but I still haven’t decided (any advice?)

I own a lot of pink clothing, however pink is NOT my favorite color.

I am very fascinated about the idea of apocalypses (movies, TV shows, etc.)

When people tell me to pick between art and books, my heart breaks a little bit each time.

I buy a lot of candles but I rarely light them just because they smell so good and I want to keep them forever.

When I blog I proofread my posts 5+ times and I still find mistakes after posting.

I am a very indecisive person.

I am a certified hoarder of all kinds.

I eat french fries…a lot…almost 2-3 times a week…

I tried going completely raw vegan for 21 days, but I failed. (I lasted 3 days)

I think being vegetarian is very exciting and fun.

My favorite numbers are 3, 15, & 23.

I have recently fell in love with Hamilton (Wait for It & It’s Quiet Uptown are my favs!)

Q&A WITH JBELKBOOKS

Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books asked: Why did you start blogging? What is your biggest dream? Any favorite book? Favorite music? SO many questions 🙈😍💕💖

I started blogging for several reasons, however the main reason is that at the time, I was reading so much and I didn’t have anywhere to document it. Also, I just discovered Booktube, and a bunch of them had blogs along with their channels. So I guess that’s really what inspired me to start blogging. I was originally a Lifestyle blogger with my bestfriend, then I branched off and continued another blog on my own. But then I noticed that I wanted to talk about other things besides Lifestyle in general. So, yes, JBelkBooks was born!

My biggest dream…hmm..TO HAVE ALL THE BOOKS IN THE WORLD. Jkay, but that’s part of it xD I think my biggest dream is to be completely and utterly happy..Happy with my life, my blog, my career, etc. 🙂

I have a ton of favorites, but my top two definitely have to be Looking for Alaska by John Green & All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. ❤

I listen to a broad arrange of music, but I mostly listen to Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran, Adele, & now, Hamilton!

Yasmin @ Read Books and Drink Coffee asked: what is one of your favourite and least favourite things about the bookish community?

One of my favorite things about the bookish community is the never-ending support. Everyone that I’ve come across (or mostly everyone) has been so welcoming & kind since I’ve been invested into the community. As for my least favorite, I would have to say the sense of judgement & envy throughout the community. As seen a ton on Twitter, some people can be very…defensive & judgmental of what other people read or think, and I think that’s pretty unfortunate. We all love the idea of books, but we all have our own opinions. And I feel as if as a whole our community has to work on that aspect if we want to continue to have a comfortable & positive expressive place.

Melanie @ Books Are My Children asked: What do you do besides blogging and reading?

Besides blogging & reading, I get an education, sleep, eat, shop online, browse social media, & paint! Of course I go out occasionally with my family & friends, but that’s mostly what my life is like — nothing special xD

Reg @ She Latitude asked: What plans do you have for the blog? And how has your week been? What is your perfect pizza? What are you reading and what are you planning to read next?

Hmm..for my blog I definitely want to settle on a single blogging schedule. I’m thinking of blogging maybe 3 times a week, just because school is going to start and I know I’m not going to have time to post every day. Eventually I want to invest in self-hosting, but for right now I have no idea where to start, lol.

As for my week, it has been great– thanks for asking! It’s only Tuesday, but yesterday was my blogiversary so I’m feeling good! I’m going on a semi-hiatus this month, so I’m a little hesitant as to what is to come, but I guess we’ll just have to find out! 🙂

My perfect pizza?? Hmmm..well since I just recently went vegetarian, I would have to say the perfect pizza would include: diced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, olives, mushrooms, a little bit of pesto, & maybe a little green peppers 🙂

I am currently reading a few review copies along with Me Before You by Jojo Moyes! I actually don’t know what I’m going to read next, but I’m sure I’ll find something in my endless TBR! xD

Ryy @ dembooksdoee asked: Who protagonist do you think relates most to you?

I think I’m a mixture between Violet from ATBP, Eleanor by Eleanor & Park, & Alaska from LFA. They all have some qualities that I have myself, and therefore I can relate to them much easier! 🙂

Fadwa @ Words Wonders asked: What book character would you want to be best friends with? What are 3 books you’d recommend someone to initiate them to reading?

Anyone from my two favorite books — Looking for Alaska by John Green & All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven! Although, I wouldn’t mind being friends with Eleanor and/or Park from E&P by Rowell!

Besides my two favorite novels, I would definitely recommend Nimona by Noelle Stevenson, just because it’s a graphic novel & it’s not TOO much reading.

Thank you to all the wonderful people who liked + asked me questions to make this Blogiversary post happen! I enjoyed answering all the questions and sharing some mystery facts with you all!

  2. You should totally study abroad, but only if it’s beneficial for you (do you get what I mean) like I wanted to but then I realised itd be easier just to stay at home. I own so many candles but I don’t light them because I don’t want to burn my house down. French Fries are amazing let’s be honest. Your answer to my question was exactly the same as my answer to it! I’ve wanted to go vegetarian for a while now but I have horribly low iron and iron supplements are helping a teeny tiny bit. I know there is iron in food other than meat but there’s not a lot that are as iron rich. But good on you for doing it! My mum makes this really good vegetarian thing, which I can’t remember at all what it is rn which sucks, but when I remember I’ll tell you. Vegetarian Pizza is amazing! I always get it if I can, I like pepperoni but pizza IS good with and without meat. I loved seeing all your answers to the questions, I can’t wait for your next one.

  3. I loved reading all those facts about you.
French fries are one of my favorite things in the world. So glad you love them as much as I do! I am vegetarian, btw, and it actually IS very exciting and fun! I am healthier now than I’ve ever been. Even though I eat a lot of french fries. x)

I’m sorry school starts again so soon. Hope it’s not too stressful. ❤
    And thanks for the giveaway!

    • Aww, well I’m glad you enjoyed reading my facts! I was afraid they were going to be too simple or boring, lol.

OOOO, REALLY??? Vegetarians unite! You wouldn’t happen to have any vegetarian meals to recommend? Lately, like you, I’ve just been eating vegetarian pizza, french fries, & pasta xD But I would love to try out new meals now & again, lol…

THANK YOU SO MUCH & good luck!! ❤

Congrats! I loved reading all these facts about you ❤
I think you should totally study abroad if that possibility is open for you, It's really beneficial and enriching. I'm moving abroad myself next year, so I'll tell you how it goes 😉
I know what you mean by not using candles because you want to keep them forever. I face that problem daily with candles but also with notebooks, because my obsession with stationary (or stationery? idk) is very real *sigh*. Every one hoards something and, lets be honest, everyone loves french fries so… Also, my cousin is vegan so I made her a vegan cake for her birthday a few weeks ago. It's actually pretty fascinating to see how people have worked their way around the different ingredients and found all the substitutes they needed – and the cake was pretty good! Any way, I'm gonna go enter your giveaway now. If I win (fingers crossed!) I'll probably check if I can get The Night Circus by Erin Morgernstern, which is my all time favourite book and I can't believe I STILL don't own a physical copy!
    Wish me luck,
    B

    • Thank you very much! 😀

Ooo, how awesome! I hope you really enjoy your time living abroad — I definitely would love to know how it goes! Btw, where are you studying? If you don’t mind me asking..?

I, too, hoard stationary so it’s okay..I know how it feels! New notebooks just have this high-quality & nice smell that I want to keep them like that forever…But then I think about how they are actually supposed to be USED, lol xD

As for vegan/vegetarianism, I haven’t tried anything sweet/savory like cake yet, but I’ll definitely take your word for it! 🙂 Going vegan was just way too hard for me at the time, but I’m glad I decided to go vegetarian for it is very fun & enlightening!

I haven’t read TNC yet but I’ve heard a TON of great things about it. Hopefully I’ll be able to grant your wish!! Thank you for entering & GOOD LUCK! ❤

I’m from Spain, so I’m in a college over here atm, but next year I’ll be going to London, which I’m kind of obsessed with… and I don’t think I’ll have a lot of money left when I move back. Too many geeky things and awesome books and merch over there… and stationary! I’m glad you enjoy being vegetarian, It’s not an easy choice to make so I’m happy it worked out for you. And you should definitely check out TNC! If I win, I could let you borrow my copy… 😀

  8. Heeey, I’m indecisive too! But then the deadline for decisions come and I pick one based on an impulse, without much thought. 😛

Your perfect pizza sounds like my perfect pizza too. Pesto is my favourite sauce forever and ever and I can probably eat it like five times a week, or something.

I loved reading this post! Thanks for sharing it with us and answering my questions. Hope you’re enjoying Me Before You. ❤

(And thanks for the giveaway, too! I'm not sure yet what book… I have so many options in mind.)

    • Hahah, I know right! That always happens to me xD

Since I’ve been vegetarian, I’ve only had pesto on pizza before! I actually had no idea what pesto was or what it tasted like until I had it on my pizza…and now I am in love!! *heart eyes*

Thank you, Reg..I really appreciate it! Good luck with the giveaway! 😀
