Random Fact of the Day: Odontophobia is the fear of teeth

Hello and welcome to another Subscription Box Unboxing & Review! Today I am sharing one of my favorite subscriptions — Uppercase.

Uppercase Box | Young Adult Monthly Book Subscription Box

From Uppercase, every month you’ll get an amazing young adult book that you’ll absolutely love! Every book you get from Uppercase is a brand new, hardcover book that’s signed by the author or comes with a signed bookplate from the author. Every Uppercase book is always published within the last month. It is extremely uncommon for a subscriber to already have a finished copy of the book and it almost never happens.

There are three current options that you can subscribe to:

  • Book Exclusive Plan – $17/month [Brand new hardcover, YA book, signed book or bookplate, reading experience with exclusive content, & a personal hand-written note to you]
  • Expert Plan – $23/month [everything listed from the Book Exclusive Plan, except you also get 1-2 high quality bookish items]
  • Personalized Plan – $29/month [you will fill out a personalized reading profile which is used along with your Goodreads profile (if available) and each month you will receive a book based on YOUR specific reading preferences and tastes. No author content or reading experience]

Here are some snapshots of March’s unboxing (technically unbagging):

Items I Behold (from top right to topleft):

  • The Uppercase Bag
  • Exclusive Content Bookmark and the Information Card
  • Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton & Signed Bookplate
  • Group picture of the Quote Couture Earrings (18k gold) from Jewel Sugar, “Read More” Big Magnet, & Two Rebel of the Sands decals

The last two photographs in the bottom row are just close ups of the decals and earrings.

I love, love, love the earrings!! I typically only wear my pearl earrings, but I’ll definitely wear the quotes ones now! I’m not sure what I will do with the decal, but I think I can utilize the magnet somewhere in my house. Before receiving this bag I was familiar with Rebel of the Sands, however I didn’t really know what it was about. Now that I have read the synopsis I can say that I am somewhat interested — I know some people were raving about it these past few weeks. Oh, and the cover is beautiful!

In case you guys weren’t aware, the Exclusive Content includes a special code that you can enter on their website to unlock exclusive content, videos from the author, additional backstories, and interact with other Uppercase readers. I personally have not tried this out yet just because I haven’t gotten around to actually reading a book that they’ve sent me. However I do enjoy the idea!

If you have ANY questions or comments, I would love to chat! And if YOU received your Uppercase box this month, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

*Disclaimer: Uppercase currently ships to U.S. and Canada, including APO addresses and Puerto Rico only.*

Thanks for reading & I’ll see you next time…

Sunshine Blogger Award! | Round Three

Random Fact of the Day: Elephants are the only mammals that can’t jump.

Hellloooo! Today I am back again with the Sunshine Blogger Award: Round Three! Thank you Eve @ Eve Messenger’s Otherword-ly Endeavors for nominating me for this award — you have added an extra dash of sunshine to my life! ❤

The Rules:

  • Answer the 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate some wonderful bloggers and write 11 questions for them to answer.”

Eve’s Questions and My Answers:

(1.) What are three things that make you laugh?

Literally everything, lol. I am not kidding — I laugh all the time it’s crazy. But if I had to pick three, I would definitely say comedic movies/TV shows (duh), my siblings, I don’t know about a third, lol.

(2.) What’s your favorite daydream?

Definitely anything about food. Food is life and I love food. Food + Jesalin = Forever.

(3.) Would you rather have the power to shapeshift or to make yourself invisible?

Hmmm…The idea of both sounds cool, but I think I’d rather have the ability to be invisible because if I am ever scared, embarrassed, or I just don’t want anyone to bother me (specifically when reading), I could just disappear!

(4.) What’s one of your favorite stupid pun jokes? (Example: “Why did Adele cross the road? To say hello from the other side.”)

Okay, I have so many answers to this question, but here’s one I’ve loved forever, lol.

(5.) Do you like stickers?

I loooooove stickers!! I think they are so adorable, especially if they are the plush/3D stickers!!

(6.) What’s your favorite social media and why?

I think I would say Twitter just because I use it the most and I’ve had it for a long time.

(7.) Do you sleep with the light on or off?

Lights off. I used to go to sleep with my decorative lights on, but then I couldn’t really sleep!

(8.) If you performed in a talent show, what would your talent be?

Reading. Lol, just kidding. I’d probably paint or something in that medium.OH, maybe I’ll be the “Human Who Laughed Too Much”…? 😉

(9.) Have you ever handwritten a letter? If yes, to whom did you mail it and when?

Ummm..let me think. Does sending a letter to your mom to the next room in your house count?? If not, then no, I don’t think I have (that I can remember). But I was actually just thinking about sending letters to people the other day!

(10.) What’s your favorite thing to do with friends?

Just hang out, really. Whether it be a movie night or a day at the park, I don’t really mind what we do. But we typically just go out to eat and go to the cinema.

(11.) Big or small, what’s something you’ve done that you’re really proud of?

The one thing I can think of is donating last year during the time of Christmas to the unfortunate with new toys. I bought the toys with the loose change that I saved up during the year. It felt so great and I can’t wait to do it again this year!

Please feel free to ignore this nomination if you simply aren’t interested or you’ve completed this award already. Just know you are full of sunshine and that you & your blog bring sunshine to the community! If you do decide to post this award, I would love it if you could link back to this post so I can read your responses! Here are the questions:

  1. Do prefer frozen yogurt or ice cream? Which flavor?
  2. What’s one thing you enjoy about your life today?
  3. What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?
  4. If there’s two professions that you absolutely do NOT want to become, what are they and why?
  5. What is the last thing you ate?
  6. What is your Zodiac sign?
  7. If you had a brainwashing machine, who would you use it on?
  8. Do you have a favorite holiday?
  9. Have you ever gotten a tattoo? If not, do you plan on getting one?
  10. Winter or Summer?
  11. Do you always eat breakfast in the morning?

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…

Top Ten Tuesday [#20]

FullSizeRender (8)

Random Fact of the Day: The sentence “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” uses every letter in the English language.

Hello and Happy Tuesday! Last week I didn’t post a Top10T, but I am back this week with:

Just a reminder, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week I will post a new Top Ten List (may not necessarily be 10). This list includes a variety of topics such as ‘my top ten favorite authors’ or ‘my top ten books of the month’. The topics will change, so make sure you stay tuned for each week!

I know this meme is Top TEN, but I don’t have 10 “5-starred” novels to share that were read recently, so I decided just to go with five recent novels and 5 non-recent. Well, let’s start:

All five of the novels shown were 2015 reads — 2 of them being graphic novels. I am still looking for intriguing graphic novels, so make sure if you have any recs, definitely feel free to share them!

Yes, as you can see, I read a lot of John Green in the past few years and I honestly don’t regret it. I know some people that don’t enjoy Green’s works, but ya know, who cares! I haven’t read Hate List in so long, but I’ve been thinking of re-reading it. Most people know of TRW, but if you don’t, be sure to pick up Asher’s novel because it is so good!!

And that is all for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! Feel free to tell me what you think of these 5 star novels and if you’ve read any of them! Have a great rest of your day — you are amazing! 🙂

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…

Art Supply Haul! | March

FullSizeRender (1)

Random Fact of the Day: Bikinis and tampons were invented by men.

IMG_9704Heeeello, and welcome to a long overdue Art Supply Haul! I hope everyone’s start to this week is going well! I start up school again tomorrow, so I am trying to savor my freedom while I can, lol. Anyways, maybe a week ago I went to my local Michaels Arts & Crafts store because they had a ton of deals going on (and Jesalin loves her some deals). I bought a few things and therefore I am sharing those with you today. Unfortunately, when I got home after purchasing these supplies, I thought of other items I could’ve bought while I was there, so I was a little sad. But other than that, here are the supplies I actually remembered to buy:

Items I Purchased:

  • Strathmore 300 Series Mixed Media 5.5 x 8.5in Pad
  • Two Blue Elephant (meaning Cool) & Pink Turtle (meaning Hope) Trrltz Bracelets
  • 3 Liquitex Basics Acrylic Paints: Phthalocyanine Blue, Titanium White, & Phthalocyanine Green
  • Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen (Black)
  • Pigma Micron Fine Line Pen Assorted Tip 3 Pack (Black)
  • Royal & Langnickel Size 12 Round Acrylic Brush
  • Artist’s Loft Back-Stapled Traditional Canvas (6x6in, 8x8in, & 10x10in)

I know the bracelets aren’t really supplies, but my mother and I couldn’t resist buying them cause they were only a dollar sooo…Anyways, most of these are items that I’ve been needing/wanting, especially the pens & Mixed Media Pad. As always, feel free to request individual supply reviews if you would like a more in depth review of any of the items shown. Thank you Michaels for the awesome deals!

*NOTE: These items are sold at other locations, so if you don’t have a Michaels near you, I would recommend checking Amazon, Jerry’s Artarama, Blick Art Materials, or anywhere that you can access!

If you have any questions or comments in regards to the items I bought this month, let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…

Who could this week’s FWF be?? Well, here are some hints:

  • Her blog is very purple and I like it.

  • She recently posted the How I Read Book Tag!

Anna @ My Bookish Dream!!!

MyBookishDream - header

ABOUT ANNA: Hello! 😀 My name is Anna, I’m a twenty year old bibliophile who lives in Vienna (Austria) where I’m studying Art History. I have been living in Vienna for about two years now and I’m in love with this city. ❤ I can speak three languages, them being English, German and Serbian. And I hope to learn Italian one day. When I am not studying (or being busy with life in general) I love reading, watching TV shows and anime, drawing and painting.

Anna, you are awesome! I am only fluent in English, so I applaud you for being able to comprehend THREE!! I take Spanish for school, but that’s about it, haha. Oh, and I would love to swap some photos of your paintings/drawings with mine! 😉

Q & A time!

ME: When did your blogging journey begin and why did you decide to start?

ANNA: I started blogging last year at the end of July, so it’s been around eight months since I started which feels slightly unreal. The time passed so fast – and starting a blog was the best idea I ever had. I have met so many amazing people and it’s been a great experience. Why did I decide to make a blog? I wanted to meet new people and talk about the books that I read, as I don’t have many (if any beside my best friend) bookish friends. I also wanted a place where I could express my thoughts and keep track of the books I read and what I thought about them.

ME: Would you rather be a dragon or have a pet dragon? (or if you don’t like dragons, switch that word out with another animal, reptile, etc.)

ANNA: I LOVE dragons! Hmmm…I would rather have a pet dragon. It would be amazing to have one and be able to fly on it (among other things). Now I’m imagining all the things I could do with a dragon (and feel like reading all the books about dragons), thank you for that! XD

ME: Besides reading and blogging, what else do you do with your spare time?

ANNA: Most of the time when I am not reading books I am watching anime or reading manga. Both anime and manga have been a big part of my life since I was a child and I enjoy both of them very much. Of course I enjoy watching TV shows as well, though I’m quiet picky (for some reason) when it comes to choosing which one I’ll watch. As for creative things I like to do, there is drawing and painting. I am also a gamer, I have been since I was very young. Though I’m definitely not playing as much as I used to, I simply don’t have enough time.

[Yeeees, painting/drawing is great! I also love watching TV (more like Netflix), but I don’t think I’m too picky, lol]

ME: If you weren’t a book blogger, do you think you’d blog about any other subject?

ANNA: I would probably blog about anime and manga, as it is a big part of my life and I spend quiet a lot of my time watching anime or reading manga. It’s also one of the things I’m most passionate about, second only to reading.

[Maybe someday you could? I would definitely follow it!]

ME: Since it is the 3rd month of the year, what are 3 of your favorite meals/snacks?

ANNA: My three favourite meals are: vegetarian pizza, pancakes and burritos (or they are at the moment). Hahaha, thinking about this made me really hungry. XD

[Oooo, this made me hungry too!! I love those foods, especially pancakes and pizza!! ❤ ]

Most definitely be sure to go over to My Bookish Dream and browse her blog. Anna’s blog is beautiful and her theme is pretty solid (I love purple, so that adds to my likings, lol). Oh, and just recently she reached 200 WP followers so make sure you keep adding to her numbers and congratulate her! I promise you are missing out if you aren’t following her by now!

You can find Anna on the social media listed below. Just click on the icons and it’ll take you straight to her profile!

Thank you a ton to Anna for taking the time to chat with me and share yourself more with the blogging community. I am glad to have gotten to know you, while also sharing you with the others. I look forward to chatting with you more and seeing your blog expand in the future!!

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…

Captivating Covers [#16]

Random Fact of the Day: The average strawberry has 200 seeds.

For more information about Captivating Covers, click here.

Hello & welcome to Captivating Covers! Let’s see what this week’s cover is…

Title: Wink Poppy Midnight

Author: April Genevieve Tucholke

Genre: YA, Mystery, Contemporary

Published: March 22nd, 2016

So I was scrolling around Goodreads’ New Releases, and I saw this beauty. We locked eyes and I knew we would be in love forever. And I thought, “Yes, this is the one.”  Honestly, what is there NOT to love about this cover? The title is awesome and very unique and the background is sort of fairytale/clipart-like and it’s JUST SO ADORABLE! If I saw this cover at a bookstore, I must admit, it would definitely be a cover-buy for me. Oh, and did you see the tagline?

“A hero. A villain. A liar. Who’s who?”

Like woaaah, things just escalated so quickly, and by that tagline you can clearly conclude that this novel is a mystery.

I haven’t read anything by Tucholke, but this one does sound interesting! It IS a very new release, so if you’ve read this or plan to read it, let me know!

Check out the synopsis down below if you are interested in Wink Poppy Midnight!

Friday Finds [Mar.25th]

FullSizeRender (4)

Random Fact of the Day: The oldest person to bungee jump was 96 years old.

Hello! We have made it to another Friday! How does it feel? As you may know if you’ve been here for a while, today is dedicated to Friday Finds. Friday Finds is a meme hosted by @adailyrhythm. It is a chance for you to showcase the books you’ve ‘found’ and added to your TBR list! They do not have to be books you purchased and they could’ve been found anywhere — bookstores, online, library, etc. Here are my most recent finds:

Riders (Riders, #1)

Nothing but death can keep eighteen-year-old Gideon Blake from achieving his goal of becoming a U.S. Army Ranger. As it turns out, it does.
While recovering from the accident that most definitely killed him, Gideon finds himself with strange new powers and a bizarre cuff he can’t remove. His death has brought to life his real destiny. He has become War, one of the legendary four horsemen of the apocalypse…

Flora Dane is a victim.
Seven years ago, carefree college student Flora was kidnapped while on spring break. For 472 days, Flora learned just how much one person can endure.
Flora Dane is a survivor…

December, 2008. A heavy snowstorm is blowing through Manhattan and the economy is on the brink of collapse, but none of that matters to a handful of guests at a posh holiday party. Five years after their college graduation, the fiercely devoted friends at the heart of this richly absorbing novel remain as inseparable as ever…

Five teens.
Five futures.
Two worlds.
One ending.
One year from now, Dylan develops a sixth sense that allows him to glimpse another world.
Ten years from now, Brixney must get more hits on her social media feed or risk being stuck in a debtors’ colony…

Winter, 1945. Four teenagers. Four secrets.
Each one born of a different homeland; each one hunted, and haunted, by tragedy, lies…and war.
As thousands of desperate refugees flock to the coast in the midst of a Soviet advance, four paths converge, vying for passage aboard the Wilhelm Gustloff, a ship that promises safety and freedom.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day comes a confection from David Levithan that is sure to appeal to fans of Boy Meets Boy. Here are 18 stories, all about love, and about all kinds of love. From the aching for the one you pine for, to standing up and speaking up for the one you love, to pure joy and happiness, these love stories run the gamut of that emotion…

Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fifth grade, when they bonded over a shared love of E.T., roller-skating parties, and scratch-and-sniff stickers. But when they arrive at high school, things change. Gretchen begins to act…different. And as the strange coincidences and bizarre behavior start to pile up, Abby realizes there’s only one possible explanation…

She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.
Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from…

I am so excited to get my hands on these novels (besides Rebel of the Sands because I just recently hauled that one)!! If you’ve read/heard of any of these novels, definitely let me know your thoughts because each and every one of them interests me!

Besides the shortened book synopsis below the novel, I also left a link to the Goodreads page on the image. So if the synopsis left you hanging, definitely click on the book image so you can read on!

Feel free to follow my Goodreads account to be updated on what I am reading and/or what I plan to read in the future!

P.S. I am SO close to 200 WP followers!! ❤

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…
