November TBR

FullSizeRender (71)

Hello my pretties! It is now the month of November, and for some odd reason I am excited for this month. Maybe it’s because of Thanksgiving? Maybe it’s just because it’s one more month closer to Christmas? I don’t know! But what I do know are the books I plan on reading for this month!

I read a total of three books last month, so I think I am going to aim for FIVE this month because of Thanksgiving break at the end of the month. I should be getting more reading done, but I probably shouldn’t make any promises.

Anyways, here are the books I plan on reading this November:

  1. Dataclysm: Who We Are by Christian Rudder
  2. Never, Never by Colleen Hoover
  3. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
  4. XODUS by K.J. McPike
  5. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

So two of the five novels shown are for review purposes. I was send Dataclysm for review, and also XODUS a few days ago in the mail. So I will definitely be getting to those. The other three are books that I’ve been meaning to get to, but unfortunately haven’t. So hopefully I’ll get to those very soon. I have actually already started both review novels, so I think I am getting a good head start on the month! 🙂

What are you reading this month? Are you excited for this month, too? Let me know down in the comment section below!

Stay tuned for my Bi-Weekly Wrap-Up to view my progress! And if you simply can’t wait until then, feel free to check out my Goodreads account!

Feature with Followers | #4

Hello my lovely people! It is Feature with Followers time!!

Feature with Followers is a weekly meme posted by JBelkBooks (me) where I will be showcasing one of my AMAZING followers. This gives me an opportunity to really get to know them and give them an opportunity to get their blogs out there in the community. The way I choose my featured follower is Top Secret, so wait for your chance to be featured!

This week’s FWF was rather unique because of our interactions in actually trying to contact each other, haha. But I did have a great time really getting to know some interesting facts about her life and I am very excited to showcase her and her blog today. Here are some hints on who this week’s pick is:

  • Her first name is quite identical to the former Queen of the United Kingdom
  • She lives in New Zealand
  • Her blog is A-Mazing.

Any guesses???

Victoria @ Addlepates and Book Nerds!!!

About Victoria: Hi! I’m Victoria, a 17 year old from New Zealand. I’ve been blogging for just over a year, on Addlepates and Book Nerds: Addlepates and Book Nerds. I’ve been a reader for as long as I can remember; the first book I can remember was the Tale of Samuel Whiskers, that I made my poor mum read to me almost every night. My favourite book now is Harry Potter, and I also love Throne of Glass, anything by Marian Keyes, and cute romances. Basically, I read whatever I feel like at the time…

I seriously love her 10x more for loving cute romances, because I love myself some cute romances…

Anyways, as you know I like to interview my lovely follower, so here we go!

ME: Why did you start blogging in the first place? To express your thoughts? To get to know the book community?

VICTORIA: I started blogging because I have so few friends who read. I like to fangirl (or complain about) my books, and I love having people who sympathise with me. Once I started I realised how lovely the community is, and it’s you guys who made me keep going

ME: What are your top 3 “go-to” book stores (or stores in general)?

VICTORIA: I love the Book Depository for online shopping, since it’s one of the few places that ships to New Zealand. In real life I like Unity Books, and little second hand shops

[Book Depository is so great for book lovers — international, too!]

ME: If there was another activity that you enjoy besides reading and blogging, what would it be?

VICTORIA:  I like to write, although I mostly procrastinate… I also swim (not competitively) and play netball

ME: What’s at the top of your Bucket List?

VICTORIA:  Travel! I want to go anywhere and everywhere, and have all the adventures the world has to offer

[I want to travel as well! Traveling is so fun and enlightening.]

ME:  Since it’s (was) October, can you recommend your favorite holiday drink, book, activity, etc?

VICTORIA:  Just to be difficult, we’re not big on Halloween, and it’s spring here, not autumn. So, with the sun finally out, I love to be outside. Even if it’s just reading or doing my nails, being in the sun makes me happy

Now that you’ve gotten to know Victoria a little more, perhaps you haven’t checked out her blog yet! Well I would seriously recommend you head on over to her REVIEW section because it looks to be about three times as long as my own. I love her personality and and it was really wonderful getting a little closer with Victoria. Oh, oh, oh! AND she has her own meme called: Exploring My Bookshelves! I thought this meme was really cool considering I haven’t seen any other meme like that before. So make sure you try it out for yourself if you are interested!

I also wanted to give you guys a chance to get to know her yourself through other social media sites, so down below you can get those links. Just simply click on the icon and it’ll take you directly do her:

Thank you a bunch to Victoria again for taking the time to chat with me and share yourself more with the blogging community.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you next time…

October Book/Art Wrap-Up

FullSizeRender (72)

Today is the start of a new month, November, and I have to say October went by a little fast. However I am surely not complaining because it’s: 1. one month closer to Christmas 2. one month closer to Thanksgiving break. So, you could say I am actually rather pleased that October has come to an end.

As I reflect on this month, I am pretty okay with my progress in regards to reading and painting. As some of you may be aware from my Bi-Weekly Wrap-Up, school has been more stressful than it’s ever been in the past 3 weeks. Back to back tests, constant memorization projects, completely sad days…This month was just an emotional roller-coaster that I absolutely don’t want to relive.

But anyways, like I mentioned I did get to paint earlier this month. Here is that painting:

Now yes, this painting is incomplete because I couldn’t decide if I wanted to put something on top of the background, or just simply leave it like that. I didn’t even put a finishing coat! So if anyone has any ideas pertaining to that, I would be more than grateful to hear them!

I read a total of 3 novels this month, 2 of them mentioned in my BWWU, the other was just finished last night. Here are those novels and their ratings:

In Real Life by Cory Doctorow & Jen Wang

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Boy Proof by Cecil Castellucci

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

To Nowhere by C.E. Wilson

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

*I was sent this novel in exchange for an honest review*

At the moment, there is already a review up for In Real Life, but I do plan on reviewing the last two rather soon. Overall you could say I read some really good books this month. I read 3 out of the 5 novels I set myself up to read, so that’s good enough for me.
