I know, I know. It is gorgeous.

This novel was recently discovered by me yesterday through Goodreads. I was browsing the contemporary novels and this one sparked my interest: 1. Because of the cover and 2. because it was contemporary. This is my first time coming across this novel as well. So if any of you guys have heard/read this book yourself, please let me know for I am up to any feedback or opinions.

Anyways, I really enjoy this cover. You could probably guess why if you’ve been following me for a while. But if not, it’s simply because of the nature aspect. I love a good collage of a scenery, therefore this cover is simply amazing to me. I love the contrast between the five settings; it’s provides the illusion of time passing. And if you read the novel description, the cover ties nicely with the plot. This is definitely a book I would buy just to have the cover in my possession.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

The Next Together by Lauren James

How many times can you lose the person you love?

Katherine and Matthew are destined to be born again and again, century after century. Each time, their presence changes history for the better, and each time, they fall hopelessly in love, only to be tragically separated.

Spanning the Crimean War, the Siege of Carlisle and the near-future of 2019 and 2039 they find themselves sacrificing their lives to save the world. But why do they keep coming back? What else must they achieve before they can be left to live and love in peace?

Maybe the next together will be different…

A powerful and epic debut novel for teenagers about time-travel, fate and the timelessness of first love. The Next Together is told through a mixture of regular prose, diary entries, letters, “original” historical documents, news reports and internet articles.

Until next time…

  1. I can’t wait to read this! I don’t think it’s sold in the US though (the author is UK based) but I might order it off Book Depository because it sounds so awesome 🙂
