I don’t think I have to continue to explain these posts, but if you are a new follower and you have no idea what this is, click here to see information!

This week’s Captivating Cover was briefly mentioned from one of my best friend’s (Yes, in the real world) blog. Who am I talking about? Jess @PrincessicaofBooks! She mentioned this novel in one of her most recent ‘Stacking the Shelves’ posts. Make sure you go and say hello and tell her I sent you! Jess’s posts are amazing and well-written, so you’ll be sure to have a good read!

But anyways, this novel has a great cover that I wanted to share with you all! I did take the time to go on Goodreads to check out what the novel is actually about, and I can say it sounded pretty interesting. It also has about 4 stars out of 5, so that was a good sign. As always, if you are interested in the book yourself, there will be a synopsis down below!

I love, love, love the gradient scale of colors on this cover. It sets the mood so nicely for the actual plot, and I also enjoy the title’s font — it looks almost as if it were somebody’s handwriting. The addition of the yellow stars in the background also adds an interesting touch to the cover. Even though the synopsis of this book sounds interesting, I would still just buy this book for the cover..But I guess that’s just a double win for me!

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A Constellation of Vital Phenomena by Anthony Marra

“New York Times Notable Book of the Year * Washington PostTop Ten Book of the Year”

In a small rural village in Chechnya, eight-year-old Havaa watches from the woods as Russian soldiers abduct her father in the middle of the night and then set fire to her home. When their lifelong neighbor Akhmed finds Havaa hiding in the forest with a strange blue suitcase, he makes a decision that will forever change their lives. He will seek refuge at the abandoned hospital where the sole remaining doctor, Sonja Rabina, treats the wounded.

For Sonja, the arrival of Akhmed and Havaa is an unwelcome surprise. Weary and overburdened, she has no desire to take on additional risk and responsibility. But over the course of five extraordinary days, Sonja’s world will shift on its axis and reveal the intricate pattern of connections that weaves together the pasts of these three unlikely companions and unexpectedly decides their fate. A story of the transcendent power of love in wartime, A Constellation of Vital Phenomena is a work of sweeping breadth, profound compassion, and lasting significance.

Now with Extra Libris material, including a reader’s guide and bonus content from the author.

  1. Thank you for the shoutout! You’re the best! Also, they might still have it at the BN near Coldstone. I found it in the bargain section for $6 🙂
